The achievements of pilot projects for establishing climate change adaptation plans in Korea’s 35 local governments and future direction

Korea Ministry of Environment (KMOE) has launched 35 pilot studies on local climate change adaptation action plan. KMOE operated and supported the pilot projects in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the local adaptation plan before it gets enforced. The research is about the achievements of 35 pilot projects in establishing climate change adaptation plan in local level. The adaptation goals, detailed strategies, and adaptation plans for the pilot areas were established through the climate change adaptation planning process. It is improved that adaptation awareness through the process of plan establishment, arranging cooperation system between departments, and a foundation for improving climate change response and adaptation capabilities. Adaptation measures by improving existing policies and suggesting new options was identified and climate change adaptation procedure and methods in local level was established.
